Institutional White All Over

I got a mission call. . . a couple of months ago. . . I am going to the South Dakota Rapid City mission, which covers a huge land mass. I also will be proselytizing in Spanish. . . which will be pretty fantastic. . . I leave June 30th. Honestly, that date seems to be coming very quickly.

When I got to the last, crazy weeks of the school year, I realized that in this economy it would be difficult to find a job, and I would have a very difficult time convincing anyone to hire me just for a month or two. . . So finding a job wasn't really an option, but I needed something to do. . .

The logical solution: join the Volunteer Sector!!!

So I am volunteering at the little hospital in my home town. My job is to paint the recently installed Fire Suppression lines to a color that I am now "affectionately" terming Institutional White.

The other day I was painting in the hallway outside of the Emergency Room. I was on a ladder, doing some acrobatics to get paint around a sprinkler. I felt safe though, because if I fell, I would fall into the ER.

The next day I was painting inside of the ER and the pipe ran over a set of cabinets. Again, this kind of required an acrobatic display of the over-ladder dance. Again, I felt safe.

The third day I was painting in the hallway next to Accounts Receivable. . . Not such of a safe feeling.
